Secretary of the Navy Paul Nitze congratulates Alvin Radkowsky after presenting him a $25,000 cash award, at the Pentagon in Washington, DC for his invention of a method for control of nuclear reactors. Since the invention was disclosed in 1951, it has been applied and is now a feature of our nuclear powered ships reactors. It permits nuclear reactors to operate for much greater periods than would otherwise be possible. |
