Feldman Adjusts Grating on Equipment

Paul Feldman adjusts the grating that John Strong built for infrared spectroscopy, a laminar grating that uses a very clever technique of moving one grating against another. This creates an opportunity to do long wave-length infrared research with high resolution. This instrument is widely used in infrared research today, particularly in space research., Credit Line: Photograph from Prof. William Fastie and John Schmidt, The Johns Hopkins University, courtesy AIP Emilio Segrè Visual Archives
