Aerobee launch preparation

Photograph was taken in the Aerobee launch preparation area at White Sands, New Mexico.  The rocket with its tail extending to the foreground is on the left; in the rear, a group is working on the payload about to be mated to the rocket. The shiny nose-cone standing upright in the rear will then be mounted over the electronics rack in preparation for launch.  Left to right are: William O. Wernsing from Williams Laboratories Inc. , Ithaca, NY (electronics engineer with his back to the camera); Klaus Fuhrmann, visiting post-doc  from  Germany; Jimmie Dunston, technician; Martin Harwit, principal investigator, standing on a table or crate to work on the electronics rack; Henry C. Kondracki, of Pan Monitor Inc. of Trumansburg , NY, mechanical engineer.
