Ferpic Sample
Abstract/Description: | These two photographic prints are made from the same negative. The 'original', on the left, is made by ordinary photographic techniques. The photo on the right is made by scientists at Bell Laboratories using a new image storage device called a ferpic (ferroelectric picture device). The original negative is used as a transparency in a contact-printing technique, when the image is stored in the ferpic. After storage, the image, which is 5 mm high, is projected onto photographic material to produce the photo. |
