Laser evidence
Abstract/Description: | Unmistakable evidence that a laser light for the first time has stimulated a specific chemical reaction is revealed in the infrared spectra above which compares the frequency of (a) styrene monomer, (b) commercial polystyrene, and (c) laser induced polystyrene. Dr. Yo-Han Pao and Dr. Peter Rentzepis of Bell Telephone Laboratories succeeded in changing monomer styrene to polystyrene with light from a ruby laser. |
